Tri-Cities Whip...
I was digging through the old photo book this evening and came across this classic. It was taken a while back, but was screaming to be blown up on the blog and shared with the masses!
The Tri-Cities always has something interesting for those that choose to stop by when rolling through. I was making a pit stop at a McD's to grab some nuggets and fries when this beauty, gleaming from the corner of the parking lot, caught my eye.
So I had to go over and take a closer look. Man, this bad boy was STUNTIN'! It was a custom 3-series, convertable Bim Bimma! The interior was all velvet and the paint job was straight candy. The best part about this sweet ride was the air-intake panels on the hood. As you can see, the driver must have been getting fast and furious and lost one while living a 1/4 mile at a time. Too bad it revealed that it was nothing more than a plastic vent attached to the top of the hood with 5 pieces of double-sided tape!
I waited a bit to see who the man was that owned this fine piece of German muscle, but no luck.
ARE YOU SERIOUS!!?!!?!
Can you imagine, some guy is rolling around the Tri-Cities behind the wheel of this piece thinking to himself that he is sitting Major! To each his own...

Sonrisa with the homies...
Louchan, King Tut, Pap the Greek Wizard, and I went and checked out the new Mexican restaurant in U-Village, Sonrisa. Created by the owners of the Ram, Sonrisa is a refreshing, "new-age" remix to your typical, traditional Mexican.
At first glance I was pretty impressed with the place. It had a nice bar, a bunch of LCDs hanging up playing nothing but sports, and great design in how everything was set up inside. We choose to sit outside on the patio as it was a nice 70 degree Spring evening in Seattle.
When the waitress brought some chips and salsa out for us, I started to have second thoughts about the place as the salsa looked and tasted more like a sweet & sour sauce. Upon opening the menu, I started to question the place even more as the prices were more expensive than what you would expect at a Mexican restaurant (at the same time not too surprising with the steady rise in food costs). I opted for the carne asada tacos, playing it safe vs. ordering one of the many exotic sounding dishes.
When our food came out, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the carne asada tacos dish was a large plate of 8 tacos stuffed with steak, cheese, grilled onions and peppers, and cilantro. The dish was accompanied by black beans & steak, Mexican rice, and fresh salsa and guacamole. Seeing all this, I thought that the price was now a bargain!
The food was not amazing, but notably good and worth going to Sonrisa again. They use good ingredients, provide a good atmosphere, and offer a lot of your Mex faves overhauled with a fresh twist.
All that said, go try Sonrisa!

Spring in Seattle...
I love this time of year in Seattle because it really separates the true Seattle locals from the tourists and transplants.
Walking around downtown today at lunch, I could tell just from a quick glance who those were that grew up here or have been here for some time.
It's about 57 degrees in Seattle today and mostly sunny. The true Seattle locs (or anyone else from a climate cooler than ours) are out in short sleeves, flip flops, no jacket, and even shorts. Everyone else is still in winter coats and scarfs with umbrella in hand complaining about how cold this city is.
The forecast says it will be close to 70 degrees tomorrow, watch out cause that's when the tank tops come out!

Drunken Noodles at Typhoon...
If you have a Typhoon nearby, go out and try their Drunken Noodles. I am not a huge fan of chain restaurants, but this one has a dish worth trying!!
Order it 5 stars in spice and ask for the spice rack to add some more kick!

Housing Slide...
So home prices keep on falling and home sales have dropped for 7 months in a row now. How low will we go in this unprecedented environment??? Some analysts are saying that we will continue to see the housing market decline and home prices fall well into 2009. Some are even going as far as saying this will be the worst housing slump ever...even worse than the Great Depression!!
With foreclosures at a historical high, a credit crunch, and consumers just flat out hesitant to pull the trigger right now on a home purchase, it is not out of a question that those analysts could be right on.
As of March, the median home price across the nation was right around $200K. How are we doing here in the Seattle area you ask? Well the median home price here is still well above $430K, but do not let that fool you as we have seen more signs of a softening market here in the NW lately and could see it get much worse as we move into the summer.
What's my take on all this? I only have one thing to say, don't try to gamble and time the market if you are looking to buy a home. If you come across a good piece of property for a great price, and you are able to afford it without stretching yourself too thin, don't hesitate to move forward.
Yes, this slump is looking to be unlike any other, it will get worse, we will see blood in the streets. But like many things, the housing market is cyclical and you just have to have confidence in the fact that a great piece of property in the long run is still one of the best investments you can make.

Alexander on the market...
So it is official, the Seahawks have gone public with a statement saying that they have indeed released Shaun Alexander.
The rumor mill is already churning now that Alexander is on the market, supposedly New England and Indy are both interested in meeting with Shaun's agent. It will be interesting to see where he lands.

Shaun Alexander will be released!
So some news came out about 10 minutes ago that we will see Shaun Alexander cut from the Seahawks roster as early as the end of today! This is big news as we've all been wondering what is going to happen to Shaun and where he stands on the Seahawks' roster with the recent signings of Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett.
I will be the first to admit that Shaun's production has been frustrating to watch the last two years. I know that he has battled injury during that time, but to watch him repeatedly fail on 3rd and 1 situations and then come back to the sideline with no emotion or visible frustration hurt to watch as a die hard Hawks fan. I am sure that Shaun was as frustrated as anyone, it just never showed in his on-field body language.
If my RB does not get that 1 yard, I want him to be fired up and pumping the offensive line up on the sideline. Waiting antsy-like for the next offensive set so that he can get back out there for a chance to run someone over, not smiling on the sidelines like it was no thing. With the recent moves the Hawks have made, and 2 straight seasons of sub-par running, it is to no surprise that the Seahawks have chose to part ways with Shaun.
I wish the best for Shaun, a part of me is definitely sad to see him go. He gave us many great years here in Seattle and is no doubt a Seahawk for life in my book. He is one of the main reasons we have such a high standard for RBs here in Seattle. No one can argue that he did not give this team an elite presence at RB. The numbers do not lie, 5 straight years of 15+ TDs. I'll take those numbers any day of the week!! I believe that Shaun still has some gas in the tank and I will be more than happy to see him succeed somewhere else.
So good luck Shaun, you'll always be a Seahawk great in my book, 2 years of frustration cannot erase a career.

21
Jacqo and I saw the movie, 21 yesterday and I have to say that it is definitely one worth checking out. The movie is about a group of bright, MIT students who develop a team-based card-counting scheme and take Vegas for millions of dollars. The movie is loosely based on true events and the book, "Bringing Down the House."
My only beef with the movie is that the story's main character is Caucasian, when in fact the real-life character was a GENIUS ASIAN!! Looks like Hollywood is still not ready for an Asian Lead actor yet. If you love Vegas, gambling, math, or all of the above, then go see this movie as I assure you it will not disappoint.
4 Stars out of 5 for this one.
